5 Fashion Photography Trends to Grow Your Business in 2022.

Block-colour

With the popularity of e-commerce and retail fashion, it has never been more important to stand out from the crowd.

So how can you make your brand pop?

Here are 5 trends we’ve seen in fashion photography in 2022.

Trend 1: Colour Block to make your products POP

This year, brands and consumers are embracing more bold colours – and nothing makes these colours sing more than pairing them with other vivacious colours!

We’ve been introducing more bold backdrops this year to our fashion photoshoots to both compliment products, and make them stand out.

Trend 2: Creative flat lays

Vogue Business has stamped storyselling as a best practice for fashion brands, particularly when it comes to product imagery, and there’s no better way to storysell than with flat lays.

In 2022, we’ve been going beyond traditional flay lays, by using texture and angles to create more eye-catching content.

Trend 3: Ghost mannequin product montages

Utilising ghost mannequins is a great way to keep the consumer’s focus on the product, making sure it remains centre stage, rather than on the model wearing it.

We’ve been utilising ghost mannequins in product montages this year as a way to showcase complete outfits in a unique way.

It’s also a very cost-effective way for social media managers to create multiple unique looks using ghost mannequin assets.

Trend 4: Campaign-style shoots

Where the past few years have seen a focus on e-commerce style model shoots, this year, we’ve seen a rise in the popularity of campaign-style shoots.

Utilising the unique angles of the model’s figure to showcase the product, campaign-style shoots create for more eye-catching and thumb-stopping content to get the consumer’s attention.

Trend 5: User-Generated Content

With the rising popularity of short and snappy videos across platforms such as TikTok and Instagram, we’ve seen a surge in requests for user-generated content.

More commonly referred to in its abbreviated form, UGC, user-generated content, is content that appears to have been created by consumers or influencers.

This content is designed to be less stylised, and most importantly, more organic, which consumers can relate to.

So rather than utilising a hefty chunk of the marketing budget towards influencers, we’ve seen many fashion brands opting to create their own UGC this year.

Something our clients have been requesting this year is UGC that slowly introduces products piece by piece, which are perfect for use across social platforms such as TikTok and Instagram Reels for building out a story.
